St. John's Lenten Resources

Lenten Mission

Join Father Jared De Leo, Pastor of St. Monica's Catholic Church in Palatka for a two-day Lenten Retreat called "Choose this Day" on March 10th and March 12th at 6:00PM.

Stations of the Cross

Join us every Friday in Lent at 6:00PM for Stations of the Cross with Rev. Anthony Bonela, MSFS, with a meatless supper to follow. There is no cost for the supper, but donations are welcome.

Lenten Penance Service

Join us on Wednesday, March 18th at 6:00PM for our Lenten Penance Service. We will be hosting eight (8) priests who will hear individual confessions after a brief service.

What is Lent?

Lent is a 40 day season of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving that begins on Ash Wednesday and ends at sundown on Holy Thursday. It's a period of preparation to celebrate the Lord's Resurrection at Easter. During Lent, we seek the Lord in prayer by reading Sacred Scripture; we serve by giving alms; and we practice self-control through fasting. We are called not only to abstain from luxuries during Lent, but to a true inner conversion of heart as we seek to follow Christ's will more faithfully.
